How to tell your wife you want to be cuckolded

The short version, since you have probably been circling this question for a while: pick an ordinary evening, say it as a fantasy rather than a request, use plain words, then stop talking and let her ask the first question. Most of the damage in this conversation happens in the five minutes after you say it, not in the saying.

That is the method. The rest of this is why each piece matters, and what to do when she reacts in a way you never rehearsed.

The version in your head is not the conversation you will have

You have run this scene a hundred times. In the rehearsal it goes one of two ways. She recoils, something cracks, and you spend a year pretending you never opened your mouth. Or her face changes, she leans in, and the thing you have been carrying since your twenties starts tonight.

Neither one happens. What actually happens is she asks a question you did not prepare for, roughly four seconds in, and the entire evening turns on how you answer it.

So prepare for the question instead of the speech.

Say it as a fantasy, not a proposal

This is where most men lose the conversation before it starts. There is an enormous distance between these two sentences, and she hears it even if you do not.

“There is something I think about that I have never told you.”

“I think we should start sleeping with other people.”

The first is information about your inner life. The second is a request to renegotiate the thing she has built her life inside. Men collapse the two constantly, usually by over-explaining, usually within about a minute of starting. She hears logistics and begins defending the marriage.

You are not asking her permission to do something. You are telling her something true about yourself. Those land in completely different parts of a person.

When to do it, and when not to

Not in bed. She has nowhere to go. Whatever lands first, she has to feel it eighteen inches from your face, and if what lands first is panic, you have trapped her in it.

Not after sex, even though that is when it feels most natural to say. She will take it as a review. She will go back through the last twenty minutes hunting for the moment she disappointed you.

Not drunk. Deniability sounds useful here and is not. In the morning she will not know whether you meant it, and you will not know whether she meant her answer. You will have spent the first telling, which is the only one you get, on a version neither of you can trust.

What works is side by side, doing something ordinary. Driving somewhere an hour away. Walking the dog. Cooking, her at the board and you at the sink. Nobody has to hold eye contact, both of you have something to do with your hands, and a silence can sit there without anyone deciding what it means.

The words

Use the real ones. Softening it into “something a bit unusual” makes it worse, because she will spend the next thirty seconds imagining options considerably stranger than the truth.

Something close to this:

“There is something I think about that I have never told you. It turns me on to imagine you with someone else. I am not asking for anything and I do not want anything to change. I just got tired of it being a secret.”

Three things are doing work there. It is named as a thought, not a plan. The ask is explicitly removed. And the reason you are saying it is honest, which matters, because the real reason is almost never “I want to arrange this.” It is that keeping it quiet got heavy.

If the word cuckold is one you actually want to use, use it, but put it after the explanation rather than before. The word arrives with a great deal of internet attached. The feeling arrives clean.

The one thing that will sink you

Do not name a person.

Not her colleague, not your friend, not the man at her gym. The second a real name enters the room you are no longer describing a fantasy, you are presenting a shortlist. She will assume you have been watching her around him. She will feel managed. Even if she was curious ten seconds earlier, she will now spend the rest of the evening defending herself against a plan she never agreed to.

Same logic applies to arriving with rules, a forum thread, a set of boundaries you drafted, or anything that looks like preparation. All of it says you have already travelled somewhere and are inviting her to catch up.

What she will ask, and what she is actually asking

“Do you not find me attractive any more.” This comes up more than anything else and gets misread more than anything else. She is not asking about the kink. She is asking whether she is being quietly downgraded, and whether this is the first move in a conversation that ends with you gone. “Of course I do” is not an answer. The answer is specific: that the fantasy only works because it is her in it, that it would be nothing with anyone else in the role, and that it is built out of wanting her more rather than less.

“Have you done this before.” Answer immediately and honestly. Any pause here costs you more than whatever the answer is.

“Is this because of something I did.” No. Say so plainly, then stop. Do not fill the gap with another five minutes of explaining. She needs a second to think and you need to let her have it.

If she laughs, that is usually not rejection. It is relief that the thing you looked so grave about is not an affair or a diagnosis.

If she goes quiet, let the quiet run. It is the hardest reaction to sit inside and the most promising one. A woman who is thinking is not a woman who is leaving.

If she says no

Then it is no, and what you do over the following month decides whether it stays no permanently.

Do not raise it again in three weeks dressed up as a joke. Do not leave tabs open where she will find them. Do not go quiet and make her manage your mood. The fantasy was yours before you told her and it is still yours afterwards. You have not lost anything you had that morning.

A yes you pressured out of her is worse than a clean no. You will both know which one you got, and the knowing does not fade.

Plenty of women come back to it months later, on their own, in their own words. That only happens if the first conversation left her feeling safe rather than handled.

If she says maybe

Maybe is the most likely yes you will get and it is a real one. Treat it as permission to keep talking and nothing else.

Everything worthwhile that happens next happens in words first. Talking about it in bed. Her asking what it is you actually picture. The two of you working out which version of the idea does something for her, which is very often not the version you have been carrying around for a decade.

That part surprises people. Your fantasy was assembled alone over years. Hers is being assembled right now, in real time, and it will have different furniture in it. The couples who do well here go looking for the overlap instead of lobbying for their own script. If she turns out to be more interested in being wanted than in you being displaced, that is not a smaller version of the thing. That is the hotwife shape of it, and it is a good place to land.

The second conversation matters more than the first

The first one is an announcement. The second one, whenever she decides to start it, is where the shape actually gets decided. It will arrive at a strange moment. In the car a week later, out of nowhere. “So that thing you said.”

Have nothing prepared. Genuinely nothing. The worst possible response to that opening is a position paper you have been drafting in your head for six days. Answer what she asked, admit the parts you have not worked out, and let it end before it feels finished.

This conversation is the whole fantasy in miniature

Look at what you are actually doing when you tell her.

You are handing her something she can refuse. You are putting a thing you want badly inside a decision that belongs entirely to her, and then waiting, with no control over how it comes out.

If that feels familiar, it should. It is the exact shape of the thing you are trying to describe to her, performed in advance, in a kitchen, with everybody fully dressed. Her having real power over the outcome is not the obstacle in front of the fantasy. It is the fantasy.

Which is why the men who come out of this well are usually the ones who were not trying to win. They just got tired of carrying it by themselves.

Before you say anything

If you want better words for the part you cannot articulate yet, what cuckolding actually feels like from the inside covers the jealousy and the pride and why they show up together. If you want to know which version of this does the most to you before you try explaining it to someone else, the scenarios are written for exactly that. And when you are ready to put the fantasy somewhere other than your own head, the waitlist is here.

Common questions

How do I tell my wife I want to be cuckolded?+

Pick an ordinary evening, say it side by side rather than face to face, frame it as a fantasy rather than a request, use plain words, then stop talking and let her ask the first question. Do not name a specific man and do not arrive with a plan.

What if my wife reacts badly?+

Most bad reactions are not rejection, they are alarm. The most common first question is whether she is being downgraded or whether this is the start of you leaving. Answer that question directly and specifically, then give her silence to think in. A woman who goes quiet is thinking, not leaving.

Should I admit I have been thinking about it for years?+

Yes, but not in the first breath. Lead with the fantasy itself. If she asks how long, answer honestly and immediately, because hesitation there costs you far more than the length of time ever will.

Is it normal to want my wife to sleep with someone else?+

It is far more common than most people assume. Large surveys of sexual fantasy consistently find variations of it among the most frequently reported fantasies, particularly among men. Having the fantasy says nothing about your marriage or whether you want it to happen in real life.

What if my wife says no?+

Then it is no, and how you behave over the following month decides whether it stays no permanently. Do not raise it again as a joke, do not leave tabs open, do not sulk. Plenty of women return to it later on their own terms, but only when the first conversation left them feeling safe rather than managed.
